Have a look below and see what’s required to become a qualified scuba diver with SDL.
1. Open Water Diver e-Learning.
The theory part of the course is an on-line course undertaken via the PADI e-Learning portal, it consists of 6 sections plus an on-line exam. You can work at your own speed (PADI estimate between 5 and 10hrs), putting it down and picking it back up when you have free time.
All you have to do is complete part 1 before attending the pool for the confined water scuba session and at least up to part 3 before attending the Open Water Dives.
2. Swimming Pool Dives.
This is where we really teach you how to scuba dive, over 5 mini dives (normally held over two sessions) we will teach you all the skills you need to become a safe but confident Open Water Scuba Diver. Our award-winning team will be with you all the way demonstrating the skill before making sure you master them, only when we are sure you are ready will we move onto the next stage…….. The Open Water Dives
3. Open Water Diver Qualifing Dives.
Having completed parts one & two of the open water course it’s time for the so called “Open Water Dives”.
In this section there is nothing new to learn, all you have to do is demonstrate in an open water environment what you already learn in section two of the course. We do this during 4 dives held over 2 days, day one will normally be at an inland lake allowing us to get 3 dives done without having to worry about weather or tides. On the second day we try to stay flexible and preferably use a beach location if at all possible, but this is weather dependant.
