First Aid Courses and AED useage coaching

At Sussex Diving & Leisure we have two fully qualified First Aid Instructors and are able to offer courses at all levels.

EFR Primary & Secondry Care (First Aid)

The EFR (Emergency First Response) First Aid course is a course open to all and consists of on-line theory course meaning that you can study in the comfort of your own home before the course, it also means that your time with the instructor is very clearly targeted at “Building Confidence through Practice” the course its self is divided into two parts Primary & Secondary Care.

Primary Care

Primary Care is essentially basic life support, you will learn how to assess the scene to ensure your own and the casualty’s safety, how to use barriers, the sequence you should follow, how to manage the people around you, how to perform CPR and how to use a AED.
In friendly, fun groups one of our instructors will guide you through the skills by demonstration and practice before setting up a simulation so that you can apply what you have learnt.

Secondry Care

This is the First Aid part of the course through demonstration, discussion and simulated scenarios we will explore what we can do to help a casualty after we have delt with the primary considerations.  We will be looking at how to assess a casualty and record the finding to give to the professionals when they arrive, how to dress wounds, treat shock and many other ailment’s.  This is the really fun part of the course and often ends in hysterics whilst providing a memorable skill set.

In most applications the EFR course is accepted to be sufficient to satisfy the appointed person first aid roll. If you require full First Aid in the Workplace training please contact the office on 01243 202200

AED and CPR coaching

Recently the UK government has announced that they will be deploying AED's (Automatic External Deliberators) in all schools, this is fantastic news and we are sure that it will save many lives.

However although intuitive to use St John’s Ambulance have identified that only 50% of the UK’s population have ever seen an AED or would have the faintest idea of what to do if they were presented with one.
Training to use an AED isn’t required but if the user has experience of CPR coupled with AED use the deployment is often quicker and the situation overall becomes less stressfull.

At Sussex Diving & Leisure we have AED simulators and provide short AED & CPR familiarisation courses so that everybody has the confidence and experience to undertake lifesaving care

We are able to offer certificated training to schools (staff and students), clubs, offices, sports grounds, in fact at any location you can think of.

If you would like to learn how to use an AED please call the office on 01243 202200to discuss joining one of our courses of to discusss organising a private course for your workplace.
